Chapter 6 - The Rain Over Busan

The private jet touched down at Gimhae International Airport outside Busan under a sheet of driving rain that made the runway lights bleed into blurred streaks of yellow and red.
They hadn't taken commercial. They hadn't called local fixers. Min-jun had activated a private transit protocol that bypassed immigration, customs, and local police jurisdictions within twenty minutes of Baek’s phone call.
Lena sat across from him in the leather cabin of the Gulfstream, adjusting the collar of her wool coat. Her heart was beating a frantic rhythm against her ribs, not out of fear, but from the surreal reality of her position. Twenty-four hours ago, she was organizing dinner reservations; tonight, she was flying across the globe into a mafia turf war with a billionaire who moonlighted as an underworld king.
“You didn't have to bring me,” Lena said over the roar of the jet engines as they taxied toward a private hangar.
“You are my executive assistant, Miss Roberts,” Min-jun replied without looking up from a secure tablet displaying warehouse schematics. “You manage my schedule, my communications, and my crises. This qualifies as a crisis.”
“This is a gunfight waiting to happen,” she countered sharply.
“Then it’s a good thing you’re good under pressure,” he said, finally looking up. His dark eyes caught the dim cabin light, shining with an intensity that made her breath hitch. “Stay behind me. No heroics. Let my men handle the perimeter.”
“Your men?” Lena raised an eyebrow.
As the aircraft door hissed open, a wall of cold, rain-swept air rushed into the cabin. Waiting at the bottom of the rolling stairs were four men in black tactical overcoats, standing beside two armored Mercedes sedans with tinted glass.
Min-jun stood up, buttoning his suit jacket. He looked less like a corporate CEO and more like an apex predator returning to his territory.

“Welcome to Busan, Miss Roberts,” he said quietly, offering his hand to help her down the steps.
Lena looked at his hand—strong, long-fingered, capable of both signing multi-million-dollar acquisitions and breaking a man’s jaw. Without a word, she placed her hand in his and stepped out into the rain.
