Chapter 7 - The Final VerdictThe afternoon sun was warm and golden as the black Bentley pulled back through the wrought-iron gates of the Buckhead estate.

Inside the car, nobody spoke for the first few miles. Thomas was staring out the window with a faint, satisfied smile playing at the corners of his mouth, while Grant was methodically closing tabs on his laptop, his expression returning to that cool, controlled mask of corporate focus.
When the car parked by the front steps, Lily turned to Grant before opening her door.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
Grant stopped, looking over at her. The dark shadows of anxiety that had haunted her eyes for months were completely gone, replaced by a quiet, steady light.
“You don't ever have to thank me for protecting my family, Lily,” Grant said, his voice dropping into that rare, gentle register he reserved only for her.
As they walked into the grand foyer of the estate, the heavy oak doors closing behind them with a solid, reassuring thud, the past finally felt like a closed chapter.
Upstairs in the north suite, the afternoon sunlight streamed across the hardwood floors, illuminating the bookshelves, the art desk, and the framed photographs of a family that had been broken, scattered, and finally rebuilt out of something stronger than blood or steel.
Grant walked into his study, sitting down behind his mahogany desk. He picked up his phone, opened his email, and deleted a calendar invitation from a nervous board member asking about the recent press coverage.
