Chapter 10 - The Horizon Beyond the Harbor

The wedding was not held in a grand cathedral surrounded by corrupt politicians and fake aristocrats.

It was held on the sun-drenched lawns of the Moretti estate overlooking the blue expanse of Lake Michigan, attended only by trusted friends, loyal union workers, and the people who had helped rebuild the harbor from the ground up.

Evelyn walked down the aisle in a stunning gown of pristine white silk, her father’s memory living proudly in her heart, her hand resting securely in Lorenzo’s warm, steady grip as they exchanged vows beneath a canopy of blooming white roses.

There were no traps. No hidden betrayals. No assassins waiting in the shadows.

Only a new dawn breaking across a city that had finally learned the true cost of power and the unbreakable strength of an honest truth.

Months later, as Evelyn sat behind her mahogany desk at Vance-Moretti Strategic Shipping, reviewing the morning manifest while sipping her coffee, the door to her office swung open without a knock.

Bruno poked his massive head into the room, holding a thick stack of invoices.

“Boss,” Bruno grunted with a rare, approving grin. “The first shipment of medical supplies for the South Side community clinic just cleared customs. Fully funded by the port surplus, exactly like you ordered.”

Evelyn smiled, looking down at the custom signet ring resting proudly on her finger, right beside her sparkling diamond wedding band.

“Thank you, Bruno,” she said smoothly. “Make sure it gets delivered by noon.”

As Bruno closed the door, footsteps echoed down the hallway, followed immediately by the warm, familiar weight of Lorenzo wrapping his arms around her shoulders from behind, kissing the top of her head as they looked out together at the bustling harbor below.

The storm had passed. The docks were secure. And the empire they had built together would stand forever, carved in stone, anchored in truth, and protected by the unbreakable fire of a woman who refused to stay on her knees.
