Chapter 10 - The Unshakable Foundation

Five years later.

The morning air in La Jolla was crisp, clean, and carrying the salt-tinged breeze of the Pacific Ocean.

I stood on the wide wooden deck of a modern, sunlit coastal home I had purchased with my own hard-earned savings—a home I had designed myself, featuring open glass walls, warm oak floors, and a secure, private garden where no shadows could ever hide.

I poured a cup of fresh coffee, stepped out onto the balcony, and took a deep, steady breath.

My left knee still gave a slight ache when a winter storm rolled in from the ocean, but I no longer viewed it as a mark of defeat. It was a structural scar—a reminder of the night I stopped covering up for a monster and chose to stand on the side of truth.

Austin was spending his days in a federal correctional facility in the Mojave Desert, learning what it meant to live without corporate privilege or a mother to clean up his messes. Amanda was in a women’s federal prison in Dublin, California, serving out her sentence in quiet, isolated obscurity.

They had tried to crush me with a tire iron and break my spirit with lies.

Instead, they had merely cleared away the rotten foundation of a toxic past, leaving me standing tall, unshakeable, and entirely free.

I took a sip of my coffee, looked out at the endless expanse of the blue horizon, and smiled.

The audit was finally complete. And the ledger of my life was balanced, honest, and entirely my own.
