PART 2

The church remained frozen.

Two state investigators walked down the aisle while the woman in the black suit calmly opened the file in her hands.

"Mr. Santiago Barragán?" she asked.

Santiago straightened his jacket.

"My attorney will speak for me."

The woman smiled.

"Good. He'll need a lot to explain."

A murmur spread through the guests.

Doña Mercedes stepped forward.

"This is absurd. You're interrupting a private ceremony."

The investigator handed her a document.

Her face immediately lost color.

Valeria noticed.

For the first time, the woman who controlled everyone looked afraid.

"What is it, Mother?" Santiago asked.

She didn't answer.

The investigator did.

"For the last fourteen months, the Barragán Group has been under investigation for contract fraud, money laundering, and asset concealment."

The church erupted.

Several businessmen in the audience exchanged nervous glances.

Some quietly stood up.

Others reached for their phones.

Santiago laughed.

"You have no proof."

Valeria finally spoke.

"Actually, they do."

Every eye turned toward her.

Slowly, she reached into her bouquet.

Hidden among the white roses was a flash drive.

Santiago's smile disappeared.

Valeria held it up.

"Eight months of recordings."

The silence became unbearable.

"I recorded every threat," she said. "Every demand. Every discussion about forcing me to transfer my shares after the wedding."

Doña Mercedes nearly collapsed into her seat.

"You ungrateful little—"

"Careful," Don Ernesto interrupted.

His voice was calm.

Dangerously calm.

"For once in your life, think before you speak."

The investigators took the flash drive.

And Santiago suddenly realized the woman he thought he controlled had been preparing for war the entire time.
