Chapter 5 - The Unraveling

The federal investigators fanned out across the boardroom with quiet efficiency, slapping confiscation notices onto laptops, seizing digital servers, and demanding immediate access to the company’s internal ledger systems.

David Morrison panicked instantly, shoving his chair back and stammering incoherently. “Don't look at me! Elliot orchestrated the shell companies! I told him it was illegal, I told him we shouldn't—”

“Shut up, David!” Elliot roared, his polished CEO veneer finally cracking wide open, revealing the desperate, cornered sociopath underneath. He lunged across the table toward Ryan, his fingers curling into claws. “I’ll destroy you! I’ll ruin your entire family! I’ll make sure you never walk down a street in this state without looking over your shoulder!”

Before Elliot could take two steps forward, the two federal agents intercepted him, pinning his arms behind his back with practiced, professional ease and pressing him down against the mahogany table. The silver-rimmed glasses slipped from his face, clattering onto the floor and shattering into a dozen pieces.

“Elliot Chambers, you are being detained for corporate fraud, wire embezzlement, and conspiracy,” the lead investigator recited smoothly, snapping steel handcuffs around his wrists.

The man who had ruled his corporate empire with an iron fist—the man who believed physical violence and financial intimidation made him a god among mortals—was now pinned to his own boardroom table like a common criminal.

Ryan didn't flinch. He reached down, picked up the shattered remnants of Elliot’s glasses with two fingers, and dropped them neatly into the open folder on the table.

“For two years, you made my sister live in fear,” Ryan said quietly, leaning down so his lips were inches from Elliot’s ear. “You thought walls of money could hide what you were. But empires built on abuse always collapse from the inside.”

Elliot glared up from the table, his face purple with humiliation and rage, spitting out a curse as the investigators hauled him toward the double doors.

David Morrison was already packing his briefcase with trembling hands, realizing his career was ash.

Ryan turned away from the spectacle, pulling his phone from his breast pocket. He dialed a familiar number with a steady thumb.

It picked up on the first ring.

“Ryan?” Maggie’s voice came through the speaker, tight with residual anxiety. “Is it… is it done?”

“Pack your bags, Mads,” Ryan said, a warm, genuine smile breaking across his face for the first time in days. “You’re coming home.”
