Chapter 10 - The Blueprint of Tomorrow

Late that evening, after the celebrations had quieted down and the crowds had dispersed, I walked alone through the finished lobby of the cultural center.
The polished concrete floors reflected the soft amber glow of the recessed architectural lighting. The air smelled faintly of fresh paint, polished steel, and possibility.
I walked over to the main structural pillar near the grand entrance—the primary load-bearing column of the entire building. Pressed discreetly into the brushed steel base plate was a small, laser-etched plaque bearing the firm's name and my own signature as lead architect: Elena Croft.

And then, when the time is right, it lets the entire corrupt house of cards collapse under its own weight, while stepping cleanly out of the debris to build something unbreakable in its place.
I turned away from the pillar, walked out through the glass doors, and stepped out into the open night air, completely free, completely sovereign, and ready for whatever tomorrow had to build.
