Chapter 7 - The Midnight Breaching

The convoy of three matte-black Suburbans moved along Route 220 without sirens, headlights dimmed to narrow tactical slits.

Inside the lead vehicle, Nia sat in the passenger seat, her plate carrier strapped tightly across her chest. She wore a high-cut ballistic helmet equipped with thermal goggles, her M4A1 carbine resting muzzle-down between her knees.

"Target perimeter in sight," Jax announced from the driver's seat. "Main gates are closed. Thermal imaging shows two hostiles inside the gatehouse, four hostiles patrolling the inner courtyard. Blackwood Tactical contractors. They’re carrying semi-automatic long guns."

"Rules of engagement, Boss?" Jax asked, his hands relaxed on the steering wheel.

"They are armed mercenaries harboring federal fugitives," Nia answered coldly. "Use non-lethal suppression if possible. Lethal force authorized the moment they raise a barrel."

"Copy that," Sarah said from the rear seat, her fingers flying across her command console. "Activating local cellular jamming array. In three... two... one. All cell towers and private radio frequencies within a three-mile radius of Briarcrest Manor are dead. They can't call for backup. They can't even open their motorized gate."

"Jax," Nia said.

"On it."

Jax floored the accelerator.

The five-ton, armored Chevrolet Suburban surged forward, its twin-turbo engine roaring like a beast unleashed. It swept around the final bend of the gravel road, barreling toward the twelve-foot ornate wrought-iron gates of Briarcrest Manor at sixty miles per hour.

Inside the gatehouse, two Blackwood contractors saw the black leviathan hurtling toward them. One reached for the electronic gate switch—nothing happened. The second raised his rifle.

*CRASH!*

The reinforced steel ram-bumper of the lead Suburban obliterated the iron gates.

Hinges sheared like toothpicks. The heavy iron panels were torn from their stone pillars, twisting violently beneath the chassis as the black truck plowed through the debris and slid to a halt in the center of the crushed-gravel circular drive.

The second and third Suburbans roared through the breach, flanking the lead vehicle and forming a tactical wedge that cut off all access to the estate's garages.

Before the dust could settle, the rear doors of the Suburbans burst open.

"Move! Move! Suppress and secure!"

Flashbang grenades arced through the cool morning air, landing precisely at the feet of the four patrol guards scattered across the courtyard.

*BANG-FLASH! BANG-FLASH!*

A concussive shockwave ripped through the quiet Blue Ridge dawn, accompanied by two million candela of blinding white light.

The Blackwood contractors, disoriented, their eardrums ruptured, collapsed to their knees, dropping their weapons as Jax and two team operators descended upon them like wraiths. Within eight seconds, all four guards were face-down in the crushed gravel, their hands secured behind their backs with heavy-duty zip-ties.

Nia did not stop to watch.

She moved with terrifying, measured speed toward the grand front entrance of the mansion.

The massive double doors, carved from solid mahogany with polished brass handles, were bolted from within.

Jax stepped up beside her, carrying a 12-gauge tactical breaching shotgun loaded with Hatton powdered-steel rounds.

*BOOM! BOOM!*

The two heavy brass hinges disintegrated into splinters. Jax delivered a single, thunderous front kick to the center seam, and the great doors of Briarcrest Manor burst inward with a deafening crash.

Nia stepped over the shattered wood, her weapon raised, sweeping the cavernous, two-story marble foyer.
