Chapter 9 - The Trial of Miguel Garza

Forty-eight hours later, the war between the syndicates reached its final, inevitable climax.
Working from the encrypted intelligence recovered in Ricardo’s ledger and the confessions wrung from Garza’s captured operatives, Alejandro’s private security network—operating in seamless coordination with federal anti-cartel units—struck every single operational stronghold of Miguel Garza across Nuevo León.
By midnight, the news channels across northern Mexico were broadcasting breaking reports:
“Major cartel infrastructure dismantled in San Pedro and Monterrey... key leadership arrested... federal authorities seize billions in illegal assets linked to the Vanguard Logistics syndicate...”
Inside the reinforced conference room of the Ríos estate, the glowing computer monitors cast a cool blue light across the mahogany table.
Alejandro stood near the window, smoking a rare Cuban cigar, watching the distant lights of Monterrey sparkle against the dark silhouette of the mountains. The war was over. The bleeding wound that had haunted his family for three years had finally been cauterized.
The heavy oak door opened, and Marco walked in, dropping a thick dossier onto the table.
“Garza tried to cross the border through an unmonitored ranch in Tamaulipas an hour ago,” Marco reported, a satisfied grin touching his lips. “The federales picked him up at the checkpoint. He’s heading straight for the maximum-security federal prison in Almoloya. He won't see daylight again for the rest of his life.”
“And the remaining assets?” Alejandro asked, exhaling a thin stream of gray smoke.
“Absorbed and liquidated into our legitimate infrastructure. The construction conglomerates and transport lines are clean. The board is ours, Boss.”
Alejandro nodded slowly. He tapped the ash from his cigar into a crystal tray. “Make sure Ricardo and the rest of the conspirators are transferred to the federal authorities as well. I don't want a single loose end left in this state.”

“Done,” Marco said, turning to leave. He paused at the door, glancing back with a knowing look. “By the way... the medical center called. Leo’s postoperative recovery is complete. He and Mrs. Gómez are being brought back to the estate’s east lodge this afternoon.”
A subtle, genuine smile broke across Alejandro’s face. “Good. Inform the kitchen to prepare a proper welcoming dinner.”
