Chapter 8 - The Grand Celebration

One year later.
The wedding of Dominic Russo and Dr. Casey Miller was celebrated not in a dark private club, but at a breathtaking estate overlooking the cliffs of Newport, Rhode Island.
The weather was perfect. A soft ocean breeze swept across the velvet green lawns, carrying the scent of salt water and white hydrangeas.
Casey looked radiant in a custom ivory silk gown with a long, lace-embroidered train. Her dark hair was styled in an elegant updo, accented by a subtle pearl tiara. She held a bouquet of white peonies, her mother standing beside her as her matron of honor, looking completely healthy and glowing with happiness.
Dominic stood at the altar near the edge of the cliff, dressed in a classic black tuxedo. When he saw Casey walking down the aisle toward him, tears welled in his grey eyes—a rare sight for a man who had once been known as the cold titan of New York.
They exchanged their vows beneath an arch of white roses.
"I promise to listen to your words," Dominic said, his voice ringing with deep sincerity, "to honor your mind, to protect your heart, and to stand by your side through every storm, for all the days of my life."
"I promise to share your dreams," Casey replied, her voice steady and full of love, "to challenge you, to respect you, and to build a life of truth and joy with you, forever."
When the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, Dominic pulled Casey into his arms and kissed her passionately to the sound of joyful cheers and applause from two hundred guests—including prestigious Columbia professors, international diplomats, and transformed business associates who now worked for Dominic’s fully legitimate enterprise.
The evening reception was held inside a glass pavilion illuminated by thousands of fairy lights.
Laughter, music, and celebration filled the air. Delicious food was served—not by faceless servants, but by a high-end catering team who were treated with immense kindness and respect by both the bride and groom.
During the speeches, Casey’s mother stood up, holding a glass of champagne.
"When Casey was a little girl," Mary said, her voice echoing warmly across the room, "she used to sit at our kitchen table in Ohio with a small plastic pen, fixing spelling errors in the local newspaper. She always believed that words mattered. She grew up to be a brilliant scholar, a devoted daughter, and the strongest woman I know. And today, she found a man who sees her true worth, respects her genius, and loves her with all his heart. To Casey and Dominic!"
The entire room raised their glasses in a joyous toast. "To Casey and Dominic!"
As the night wore on, Dominic took Casey’s hand, leading her out of the noisy pavilion onto a quiet wooden balcony overlooking the dark, moonlit ocean.
The waves crashed rhythmically against the rocks below.
Dominic wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her soft back against his chest, resting his chin gently on her shoulder.
"Are you happy, Mrs. Russo?" Dominic whispered softly into her ear.
Casey leaned back against him, resting her hands over his, feeling the cool platinum band on her ring finger.
"I have everything I ever dreamed of, Dominic," Casey said, looking out at the endless horizon of the moonlit sea. "My mother is healthy, my work is fulfilled, and I am married to the man I love."
Dominic smiled, kissing her cheek softly. "You deserve every second of it, my love."
Casey reached into her small bridal clutch, pulling out a familiar object.
It was her vintage Montblanc Meisterstück 149 fountain pen.
Dominic chuckled softly when he saw it. "You brought your pen to our wedding?"
"I never go anywhere without it," Casey said with a playful sparkle in her eyes. "It's the tool that changed my life."
"It's the tool that saved us both," Dominic agreed, gently taking the pen from her hand, holding it up so the gold nib caught the silvery moonlight.
Casey turned around in his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck, looking up into his handsome face.
"No more secrets," Casey whispered softly. "No more dangerous games."

"Only our future," Dominic replied.
He leaned down and kissed her deeply under the stars, as the ocean waves sang a song of peace and new beginnings.
