Chapter 7 - The Final Summit

The lower floor of Warehouse B became a chaotic symphony of muzzle flashes, shattering glass, and shouting men.

Viktor’s enforcers moved through the maze of shipping containers like ghosts, striking with ruthless precision. But Marcone’s men kept coming, pressing forward through the smoke and fire, driven by desperation and the promise of a massive bounty on Viktor Vance’s head.

From the second-floor gantry, Nora held her position, her tactical radio buzzing with updates from Leo on the ground.

“Left flank clear, boss! Two tangos moving toward the main office stairs!”

Nora didn't hesitate. She stepped out onto the metal catwalk, raised her suppressed Glock, and squeezed the trigger twice. Down below, one of Marcone’s enforcers dropped his rifle and slumped against a stack of wooden crates, neutralizing the threat before they even knew where the shots were coming from.

She had traded the cold fear of the streets for the cold, calculated adrenaline of survival. Every choice she had made—from saving a dying mob boss under a bridge to embracing the dark reality of his world—had led her to this exact moment.

Suddenly, the heavy metal door behind her kicked open with a loud crash.

Nora whipped around, raising her weapon, but she was too slow. A heavy, calloused hand clamped around her wrist, twisting it sharply until the pistol clattered uselessly onto the metal grating.

"Well, well, well," a harsh, sneering voice drawled out of the smoke.

It was Frank Marcone himself. Older, scarred, smelling of cheap bourbon and cheap cologne, holding a heavy-barreled revolver pointed straight at Nora’s chest.

"So this is the little stray dog Viktor picked up off the street," Marcone laughed, his eyes glinting with manic cruelty. "The nurse who thinks she plays with the big boys. Drop to your knees, sweetheart. Let's see how much your boss cares when I mail you back to him piece by piece."

Nora’s heart hammered against her ribs, but her face remained carved from stone. She didn't flinch. She looked past Marcone’s shoulder, watching the shadows at the top of the stairwell.

"You know," Nora said smoothly, stalling for time while keeping her voice entirely steady, "you really should have checked who owned this warehouse before you broke in."

Marcone frowned, tightening his grip on the gun. "What are you—"

"I own it," a cold, devastating voice echoed from the shadows behind him.

Marcone started to turn, but it was already too late.

Viktor Vance stepped out of the smoke like an executioner, his dark eyes burning with absolute fury. Before Marcone could swing his weapon around, Viktor moved with terrifying, blinding speed. He closed the distance in a fraction of a second, slamming his palm upward into Marcone’s wrist with bone-breaking force.

The revolver discharged into the ceiling in a flash of orange fire as it flew from Marcone’s hand.

Before the gun even hit the floor, Viktor had him by the throat, hoisting the heavier man off his feet with a single, brutal heave, pinning him against the steel railing of the catwalk overlooking the drop to the warehouse floor below.

"You broke into my home," Viktor growled, his voice a low, vibrating rumble that sounded like tectonic plates shifting underground. "You threatened my people."

Marcone clawed desperately at Viktor’s thick forearms, his face turning a mottled shade of purple, his eyes bulging with absolute terror. "Viktor... wait... we can make a deal—"

"The only deal you get," Viktor whispered, leaning in close, "is the same one you gave the city."

May you like

With a final, merciless shove, Viktor released his grip.

Marcone shrieked as he tumbled backward over the railing, plummeting two stories down into the center of the warehouse floor below with a heavy, final thud that silenced the remaining gunfire across the entire building.
