Within forty-eight hours, the Sterling family’s multi-million-dollar real estate empire collapsed like a house of cards. Victoria Sterling found her name dragged through the mud across every major financial tabloid and social media platform, her designer boutiques shuttered by sudden, aggressive tax audits, and her high-society friends vanishing like ghosts in the daylight.
When Victoria attempted to storm Le Ciel to demand an apology from Mabel, she was intercepted at the front door by two towering security enforcers in tailored black suits.
“Miss Sterling,” Marcus announced coolly, blocking her path. “You are permanently barred from these premises. Along with every establishment operating within city limits bearing your family name.”
“Do you know who my father is?!” Victoria shrieked, her mascara running in the humid Chicago air. “We will destroy you! We will destroy that pathetic dishwasher upstairs!”
From the top of the grand marble staircase, Mabel looked down. She wasn't wearing her faded restaurant apron anymore; she wore a simple, elegant emerald dress that matched the quiet strength in her eyes. She didn't shout. She didn't mock. She simply looked down with the absolute grace of someone who no longer needed to fear the bullies of the world.

“You had your chance to show decency on this sidewalk, Victoria,” Mabel said, her voice carrying clearly across the lobby. “You chose cruelty instead. Now live with the consequences.”
Marcus nodded to the guards, and Victoria was physically escorted off the property, screaming obscenities into the afternoon air until her voice faded into the distance.
