Chapter 9 - The Mountain Spring

Winter arrived in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a heavy, pristine blanket of snow that turned the estate into a quiet, frozen wonderland.
Inside the main salon, a roaring fire crackled in the stone fireplace, casting a golden glow across the polished hardwood floors.
Grace sat in the rocking chair Marcus had restored, cradling a tiny, perfect newborn baby girl wrapped in a soft pink-and-white blanket. The baby—named Elena Rose Vance-Walker, bearing her mother's family legacy and her own unbreakable spirit—slept peacefully against Grace's chest, her tiny fingers curled into a miniature fist.
Julian, Marcus, and Christian stood clustered around the rocking chair like an elite security detail, staring down at the infant with expressions of fierce, unconditional adoration.
"She has your eyes, Gracie," Julian whispered, gently tickling one of the baby's tiny toes.
"And my stubborn chin, thank goodness," Grace laughed softly, kissing the top of her daughter's dark curls.
"If any boy ever breaks her heart twenty years from now," Christian muttered, adjusting his suit cuffs with a terrifyingly calm smile, "just give me the word. I'll have her fiancé disbarred before they even reach the altar."
"No lawyers," Marcus grunted, crossing his arms. "We're handling it old-school. Heavy machinery and a deep hole in the woods."

Grace shook her head, smiling as she looked from her brothers to her sleeping daughter. The nightmares of Ashland Avenue were gone. The ghost of Ethan Walker was buried under layers of federal paperwork and prison walls.
The broken line had finally been made whole.
